Role Description
Talking Space serves the residents of Birmingham and Solihull by providing a safe space for a face-to-face crisis intervention session for service users needing access to mental health support. Its aim is to help people who are struggling with a range of mental health challenges from a social crisis or traumatic mental health crisis to needing to talk through a troubling issue.
Talking Space has been invited into Villa Park to provide match day mental health support.
Tasks
To support the Crisis Intervention Team during an intervention.
The assistant will participate in face-to-face sessions, observe, actively listen, help to assess risk and support the Crisis Intervention Worker.
The assistant will record notes on the secure database for approval by the Crisis Intervention Worker and send referrals for services or escalate safeguarding.
Skills Required
- A positive attitude towards mental health
- Reasonable level of written and spoken English
- Ability to empathise with individuals experiencing difficulties in their mental health
- A moderate level of IT with willingness to learn
- Ability to listen to themes of suicide, self-harm and trauma
- A calm, patient, and friendly demeanour
- A non-judgemental approach
- Reliable
- An awareness of safeguarding is desirable

Support

Expenses
- Travel (bus, train and metro) fares reimbursed
- Car mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile
- Lunch or Meal expenses reimbursed if you volunteer over 4 hours (up to £4.00 max)
Accessibility
- Accessible for wheelchair users with disabled Toilet.
- There is no parking on site.
