Are you looking to become a Mental Health First Aider ®?

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue. You can find more about the course here.

Birmingham Mind employs accredited Instructor Members who are approved to deliver MHFA England courses. The course RRP is £300 pp, but our charitable aims and objectives enable us to provide this cost at the reduced cost of £230pp (subject to online booking fees.)

Individual Mental Health First Aid Course Bookings

Our Open Access courses, are available to individuals looking to become a Mental Health First Aider ®. You can book an single course place or places for a small group of people. These course are ideal for smaller companies, third sector organisations, CIC’s or individuals. Courses are open to anyone aged 18+.

Our courses are delivered in person and online, so you can chose which option works best for you. Forth coming course dates are below.

You must attend all sessions to qualify as a Mental Health First Aider ®.

Mental Health First Aid at Work or in your Community

Birmingham Mind can deliver Mental Health First Aid Training at your workplace, either in person or online.

As an MHFAider® you will be able to:

  • Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention
  • Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports
  • Practise active listening and empathy
  • Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma
  • Know how to use the MHFAider Support App®
  • Know how to access a dedicated text service provided by Shout and ongoing learning opportunities with MHFA England

We can accommodate dates and times that suit your business (inc weekends). The course requires a minimum of 8 delegates and a maximum of 16 delegates per course.

 

 

Whether you choose our open access course or specific workplace training, everyone who completes this course becomes a qualified MHFAider® and will receive;
  • A hard copy workbook to support their learning throughout the course
  • A digital manual to refer to whenever they need it​ after completing the course
  • A wallet-sized reference card with the Mental Health First Aid action plan​
  • A digital MHFAider® certificate
  • Access to the new MHFAider Support App® for three years
